Coloursbysomya is an Art brand which is into Paintings, Canvas prints & Digital art catering to the needs for Commerical and Home interiors.

I am a Delhi based artist and a Curator. As a child I was deeply passionate about art and aesthetics, which I pursued in my bachelors degree in Applied Arts from College of Art, New Delhi. I was trained in various techniques both digital and manual. I work in acrylic, mixed media and enjoy the unpredictability of working over textured surfaces.I have been deeply influenced by the works of Modern and Contemporary artists especially Jamini Roy and Paresh Maity, and my works do project that inspiration. Passionate about arts led me to do my Masters in History of Art which helped me in achieving more clarity in understanding the nuances of arts and aesthetics, which is clearly visible in the concepts and themes of my work.

I started my professional career as an illustrator for Hindustan Times, New Delhi, illustrating for its two magazines;Kadambani and Nandan. From there I worked as a designer, designing posters and brochures for National School of Drama, New Delhi. Being a practising commercial artist, I have chalked my own path since then, where I do work in various mediums ranging from acrylic to digital work, according to my clienteles. I have also gained curatorial experience working with galleries as research scholar on various publications.And also worked with National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi as a Deputy Curator, Handling the Jatan Museum Builder Project for documentation of art objects helmed by Ministry of Culture, India.

Nature is my muse and inspiration simply because of her endless subject matter and surprises. This collaboration offers me something I never even thought of. Although I prefer to paint nature themes, weathered objects and rural settings, I'm open to other things that may catch my eye. As an artist, I feel that I'm just a work in progress, and there is always something to learn. Exploring and collecting material for paintings is a great adventure for me, and always a thrill to wonder what's around the bend or beyond that ridge. I like to create a sense of place that is somewhere but nowhere in particular. I hope each and every viewer sees and takes something a little different from my work and have an experience rather than just be viewing a picture. My goal is not to paint life, but to paint life into my work and create an emotional connection that I hope will inspire my viewers.
